This test is used in the characterization of fine aggregates, with the objective of determining the apparent and real specific masses, in addition to the absorption of the grains.

In the case of fine aggregate, the dry saturated surface condition is not easy to observe visually, requiring the use of a standardized metal truncated conical mold to determine the point where the aggregate remains intact after being demolded (point of saturation). Thus, it is also possible to calculate the absorption of fine aggregates (Norma DNIT 411/2021-ME).

Stratura Asfaltos is a pioneer in high-performance asphalt mixture technology, providing the Bulk Density test for aggregate characterization.
